dedmanshootn > lines and light shadow 05/06/09 i appreciate the kind words about my memorial pic yesterday. i'm no old salt like sigvar was but have spent time out on the beautiful briney when i was much younger and healthier. there's nothing quite like the deep blue i feel. have a great day

dedmanshootn > sunny power pole detail 02/19/09 this is another trial shot with my new 500mm. first i forgot yesterday, thanks so much for the warm kind 'welcome back'! much too kind but much appreciated. i'm constantly humbled by the fine pics and people here in the dailies. y'all set the bar high. this lens is the rokinon 500mm f8. its quite light actually, simple and quite sturdy. i was quite impressed with its design actually. pretty easy to shoot hand-held, as here and yesterdays, though a bit tricky to focus fast for wing shots. i got it for $149.00 at overstock.com. i've had real good luck with them and got my cam and other gear there at good prices too by watching for close-outs and such. posting early and off to bed. smile at someone for no real reason today

dedmanshootn > colored pencil shavings 01/09/09 (1of2) please check out the next pic in this gallery, its the little boss's take on this daily. she was at work with us the past two day and will likely be today also as the schools have been closed due to the flooding. see the weather report below if you're interested. i'm including a link to the full size pics used for this below also. these shots came about because the little bass wanted to sharpen her pencils but they wouldn't work right in her little sharpener so after we had lunch i showed her how we used to sharpen pencils with a knife in 'the old days'. our deal was i'd sharpen if she'd clean up so she grabbed on of our guest check trays to carry the chips to the wastebasket and i said "hey that would make a cool picture" and here you are. i really like the one of her hands and for those of you that like pics ;like that i recommend the link to the full-size pic. http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/gallery/4527270_TPhDs#451588804_kUjkL the rain has finally slowed and occasionally stopped for a half hour or so. its also cooled down which should help slow down the melt run-off from the mountains. according to a amature weather station not to far from my place we've had close to tem inches of rain right here in the past sixty hours or so. the worst i've heard around the area was over fifteen and the reports from the mountains have said that snow pack has melted as much as twenty-eight inches in the same period. some of the transit drivers were on alert with buses ready to go in case smaller communities along the river needed to be evacuated en mass but fortunately that plan didn't have to be used tho many people have had to abandon their homes. my sis and b-i-l are ok though the water came all the way up their yard but not into the house thankfully. several of out friends have had to abandon their homes or suffered other property damage but so far no injuries or worse to anyone we know. thanks for all the well wishes. blessings to all y'all
