dedmanshootn > bbd 06/26/08 hershy wanted a 'happy' pic after yesterdays 'depression' (which was foil tho not b&w just shot with contrast and brightness set very low and less than ambient flash, i wanted it even duller in tone and the darks darker and had tried to create a hint of prison bars with the not quite there vertical lines but ...) so i took advantage of a quick break at work today to snap this. those of you familiar with my dailies will recognize the little boss who was happy to see her friends as she's been having a very tough week. she actually had to go to the e-room sunday for treatment for a severe allergy attack and had to miss swimming lessons all this week as a result. the bbd is not for bigger better deal but for brianna, bogie and dan. dan is a good friend and customer of ours who usually brings bogie for a visit when he comes for lunch. bogie is a delightful and well behaved patterdale terrier and brianna just adores him. bogie is a pro at mooching treats from my boss too
dedmanshootn > posing spotted towhee 06/11/08 this lovely gent just insisted on having his picture taken. i was across the street looking for an angle on the armory building and he flew right up by me and started his 'chip'. he led me across the street and then flew up and posed in a lovely planter of flowers. i had my 18-55mm lens on tho so didn't shoot as it was too far but did find some things of interest right by me to shoot. i heard him start a steady 'chip' and looked up he was only about 8 feet away. i took a couple and, as he seemed to be enjoying it rather than nervous, decided to switch on my 85-200mm. he waited patiently while i did this and posed prettily for a couple more. since he didn't fly away or even appear nervous i reset and bracketed as the lens isn't made for my camera and can only be used manually and the light was tricky. he waited til i gotten two or three bracketed shots then flew off. lucky for me he was such a ham as this was the very last shot and the best by far of the lot. its almost as if he knew i'd gotten it right finally so he could go on his way. a very entertaining seven or eight minutes, as you can no doubt tell by my long-windedness
dedmanshootn > DOD (dear old dad) 05/16/08 i've always shot the day for the daily but i just got my stuff from mother's day processed and liked this one of my dad, especially his hands, so decided to use it today. i'll be down helping get his house ready for sale again this week-end so may not be able to post and almost for sure won't be able to comment. i look forward to catching up on all the wonderful stuff i missed when i get back
