didn't get to do my wildcat entry to the challenge because we unexpectedly had no rain, at least when i had a chance to shoot anything. i was going to do an sp standing in the rain, 'not enough sense to come in out of the rain' ;-) so you get this i shot when i picked up my mail yesterday. this is the left, as one faces the building, of a pair of great lamps bracketing the entrance to the post office in the federal building downtown bellingham. i was overwhelmed by the response to my whatcom falls shot! thank yu all so very much. i've said before "y'all are much too kind", many blessing upon you. as you think about this year coming to an end remember and enjoy again the many blessings and joys that you had and may they help mitigate any loss and pain

the boss was a bit late getting to work today so it gave me a couple minutes to try a few shots of the icicles on our building. we rarely get icicles here but even tho it cleared up today it chilled down again, we had a high of about 17F today with another -10 or so in wind chill, so the conditions were perfect for them. i liked the way the light was diffusing through this ice into the shadow on the wall in this. we're expecting really nasty weather this week-end, full-gale warnings are in effect for the next couple days and they're predicting more snow through christmas. snow can be very pretty and everyone likes to sing 'white christmas' but i think most around here would be happy to have some rain back about now. have a great and safe week-end y'all

i was heartened by the comments about the lighting on yestrrday's shroom. i've been working hard trying to teach myself to use flash more effectively and i guess i succeeded on that one. as noted by many we certainly do get a lot of rain here and the ground is often mushy. makes for very interesting mosses, fungi and lichen tho which those of you who're familiar with my pics know i like to shoot. i'm working on pics to do a shroom gallery. have much else on my plate right now so its kinda taken a back burner. hopefully by putting the word out like this i'll get on the job and finish it this week-end. we had lots of rain and more wind, though the wind wasn't nearly as strong as the past few blows. my power only popped off once and that only for a second or two. its died back now so i'm taking advantage of my insomnia, ande nap earlier in the evening, to get a pic up and finally get to go though some of the great dailies and other smug stuff i know i've been missing. smile several times for no reason at all today. people will usually smile back and, if nothing else it'll make them wonder what you're up to ;-)
