dedmanshootn > chattin in the china cabinet 07/01/08 these fine ladies are in my sis and b-i-l's china cabinet and just begged to have their photo taken, so i was happy to oblige. back home tho tired right out. looking forward to catching up on the banquet of photos i've missed tho probably won't be able to stuff myself like a christmas goose as i've many other things need doing also. just have to work on patience i guess. if virtues were more fun i reckon more people would practice them ;-)

DOD is getting used to his electric wheelchair and new breathing assist device and is in his usual good spirits, despite being tired and unable to leave the house. we thank God for each extra day we get... life is SO glorious
dedmanshootn > lightin em up 06/29/08 the car show was terrific and i can't wait to see whether anything i shot turns out close to what i was trying for. was very hot (for seattle anyway at about 87F) and humid and sis and i started a bit later than we thought we might so i missed about the last three blocks (out of 22) but caught this guy showing off for the people partying in the beer garden where my sis's boss and his friends were the band
dedmanshootn > pollinating the blackberries 06/28/08 caught this while taking a quick breath of fresh air out back at work. was going to just shoot the blackberry flowers because they're one of my fav's and when i got close this bumble was busy working so i got it too, on the first try luckily because half a second after i snapped it zipped off
dedmanshootn > bogie, a legend in his own mind - "the noble dog, faithful and true, man's best friend. here i am keeping watch (and looking darn fine if i do say so myself) and am i appreciated? do i get any treats? is anyone taking my picture? ... oh...yeah...um...ok...so i got it pretty good. a fine fellow like me deserves it!" 06/27/08 this was actually shot at the same time as yesterday's dp but i liked it so well and was so down with allergies i decided to 'cheat'. i'll probably be able to post something but won't be commenting much if at all this weekend. i'm going down to shoot at the greenwood car show saturday, if you're in the greater seattle area its an event well worth making time and effort to take in - see info at the link below, and visiting my sis, b-i-l and DOD and his wife (and hopefully some extended fam and friends). hope everyone has a great weekend and some wonderful things to photograph. http://www.greenwoodcarshow.com/
dedmanshootn > bbd 06/26/08 hershy wanted a 'happy' pic after yesterdays 'depression' (which was foil tho not b&w just shot with contrast and brightness set very low and less than ambient flash, i wanted it even duller in tone and the darks darker and had tried to create a hint of prison bars with the not quite there vertical lines but ...) so i took advantage of a quick break at work today to snap this. those of you familiar with my dailies will recognize the little boss who was happy to see her friends as she's been having a very tough week. she actually had to go to the e-room sunday for treatment for a severe allergy attack and had to miss swimming lessons all this week as a result. the bbd is not for bigger better deal but for brianna, bogie and dan. dan is a good friend and customer of ours who usually brings bogie for a visit when he comes for lunch. bogie is a delightful and well behaved patterdale terrier and brianna just adores him. bogie is a pro at mooching treats from my boss too
dedmanshootn > depression 06/25/08 i'm not depressed, at least no more than usual ;-), but i decided to try one of those 'concept' type shots to see what i could come up with. talked with a friend on the phone who was feeling down, both of us felt much better after a good visit as friends so often do, so gave it a whirl for my concept
dedmanshootn > mountain laurel blossoms 06/24/08 this is per request of angele who wanted to see the flowers when they opened from my 'hairy buds' dp several days ago. knowing what to call this plant is thanks to karinaboese. had a heck of a time getting this posted. uploaded fine then when i tried to access the gallery to put on title etc puter crashed. i rebooted 3 times but couldn't open any gallery on smugmug tho e-mail etc worked fine. did a bunch of other things and decided to reboot and try one more time. got lucky. my puter is betting balkier and balkier and unfortunately i can't afford to fix or replace it. if worst comes to worst i can at least e- someone from the library's puters to let y'all know what's happened but if this puter wipes out i won't be able to upload any longer. hopefully it won't come to that. this is rambling on and on because i got frustrated and stayed up too long, tho at least i use punctuation unlike SOME people, dita ;-), but i'll wrap up now. hope you are having a much better day than mine is so far
dedmanshootn > honeybee on blue 06/23/08 don't know what this bush and flower are but i sure like them. apparently the insects do too. i saw at least five different types counting this gal. i've been hearing that the bees are dying/disappearing and i can believe it as this is the first honeybee i've seen this year tho i've seen many types of wasp and bumbles. i thought it cool how bright yellow and bulging the pollen she's carrying is. i don't have macro and was too lazy to carry my tripod, even tho i got a fine new shoulder case for it from my fam, so this is just my 18-55mm zoom hand-held. you who know flowers and plants, who have time and inclination, do you know what this is http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/gallery/4434686_au3Uh#277433702_jPr7u
dedmanshootn > late june dogwood 06/22/08 dogwoods are usually long gone by now here. maybe it was the grey very cool wet spring but whatever this beautiful little tree is blooming beautifully now by my fav fairhaven library. thanks so much for your kind comments and encouragement. my 'sorry' of yesterday was more int he way of a lament than an apology. i don't view the dailies as any sort of obligation or burden, more a banquet to be savored and, like all good things, shared for the greatset pleasure. i regret that i've been unable to fully share and enjoy tho i am just happy to be alive and in enough of condition to be able to participate at all. bless you all again (and again and again and ...)
dedmanshootn > frisbee with style 06/21/08 sorry i haven't been on at all. DOD is out of the hospital for which we're grateful but that isn't why i haven't been on. please don't worry about me as its just some health issues that are virtually old hat for me by now. Lord willing i'll be back to shooting and posting now at least though i probably won't be able to catch the days i've missed of all your fine photos. shall be participating to the best of my ability and am really looking forward to seeing what's being shot out there. we were very slow at work so the little boss and i went out for some fun. i'm a little stiff and slow for such but we have a good time anyway. thank you all once again for your kind thoughts, comments and prayers from DOD and i. bless you for it
dedmanshootn > wild weed rapids 06/18/08 this was right by the bus stop, which i needed as was dead tired and heading home without a daily, but it caught my imagination anyway. the weeds look like water flowing over a rapid to me and i also thought it was cool how many different plants (i've noticed at least a dozen) there are. i still haven't caught up on everyone's dailies for which i apologize. just dead dog tired and allergies were nasty today though it finally started to rain, hallelujah!, and i hope to sleep well tonight. just got off the phone with DOD and he's improved a bit but the docs are planning to keep him in hospital for at least several more days. he wanted me to express his personal thanks for all the kind wishes and prayers. there's a puter in his room that can be used for a short time so i was playing various galleries as slideshows and read him some of the comments and e-mails. he says "God bless you all"
dedmanshootn > crystal blue persuasion 06/17/08 cheating today cuz just no time or energy to create something and anyway i kinda like this even tho it is strange. shot this this weekend while staying at my sis and b-i-l's. its a detail from a crystal bowl sitting on a blue glass plate. their table, and a fair amount of other space, is covered with items removed from DOD's preparatory to getting the house sold. shone a flashlight into the bowl and used very low on-camera flash as well as played with white point settings. i'll be catching up on all your fine work, hopefully at least, as time and energy (both in far shorter supply than i'd like alas) allow. thank you all again for your kind, thoughtful encouragement and prayers. i, and my whole family, much appreciate it

dedmanshootn > DOD and visitor 06/15/08 Dear Old Dad on father's day. unable to get out of bed and in the hospital but still in good spirits and doing his best to encourage others and maintain his joy. he and all of us are so grateful for all the good wishes and prayers. God bless you all for your kindness and caring addendum: just plain wiped out exhausted so forgot to note...the shadow profile is my wonderful sis. thanks again all and i'm looking forward to catching up on the wonderful things you've posted while i was awol
