dedmanshootn > veggie dog with grilled onions and kraut 05/30/08 my fav hotdog vendor, who has a cart conveniently located next to the bus stop i always use when i go to the library. best caramelized onions and saurkrout in town and four kinds of dogs, two meat and two veggie. always remembers who you are and usually has the baseball scores for those of us who are portable audio device unenhanced

dedmanshootn > strangled iris 05/28/08 i did laundry today and as its 4 flights of stairs each way once i get down i usually stay down until the laundry's done. i took my camera and shot quite a few things in the laundry room i thought i might use for a dp. will probably post something from them but i went outside while the dryers were running and found this shot i liked best for today
dedmanshootn > when 12" just won't do 05/27/08 the boss and i like to wear t-shirts when we work in the kitchen, (tween the woks, deep fryer and the dishwasher it can get like a steam bath. the record temp (with the air conditioner running) last summer in the kitchen was approx 112F) but he gets all the good ones given to him. the pizza place next door brought this over for him today but, as usual, nothing for yours truly. the cat in the window just slays me :-)
dedmanshootn > gull on a weedy rock 05/26/08 my friend and i went to the creek mouth that's right downtown for a bit. tried several wing shots with the usual results but this guy posed long enough for my slow reflexes to catch
dedmanshootn > commercial fisherman preparing his catch for sale 05/24/08 don't get down to the marina much, even tho i really enjoy it there, since they ceased the bus route to it. took advantage of my old friends visit to catch a ride down. it was a beautiful day and there were many good photo ops, one or two of which i even managed to capture. i liked this one for my dp because i worked on a few fv's in my day and it shows how the work isn't over just because you've caught fish or even because you've made it safely back to port
dedmanshootn > my winter coat 05/24/08 took a shot just to see how the color would turn out then liked the shape and especially the texture too so decided to use it for my dp. putting my winter coat away and officially declaring it almost summer. you got this shot beacause: i was running late going to work, the weather was dark and overcast all day, an old friend came in from out of town, i had too many errands to do, i worked a full shift, i'm still not completely over the crud and i was tired, i can't think of any other true excuses (or even any good ones other than a biblical plague like locusts or frogs but then i could've gotten some good pics) especially when the truth is that i probably could have gotten something but was just too weary (lazy) to do so and as i said i actually like the color and texture of this. if you wish to see and vote for my contest entry please click http://www.artistwanted.org/dedmanshootn
dedmanshootn > mighty hunter at rest 05/23/08 i was intent on a white-crowned sparrow for my dp, there was a family of house sparrows working the seed you can see someone had strewn here as a back-up, and was just easing into position for a shot from about 8 feet when they all suddenly scattered and even the ubiquitous pigeons all took off. i wondered if somehow the fever had affected my ability to stalk when this young man popped out of the shrubbery. all was now clear, apparently i don't have the eyesight and reflexes to survive as a bird. since he cost me the shot i wanted i decided he'd have to substitute. about 5 seconds after i shot this he sprang into the bush having heard the same young sparrow returning that i had. he missed the sparrow and i swear the sparrow taunted him, from a safe distance. not the shot i was expecting to get but quite amusing and interesting to watch anyway. if you're interested please check out, and feel free to vote the stars you feel it deserves if any, my contest entry portfolio @ http://www.artistwanted.org/dedmanshootn
dedmanshootn > sparrow on a pretty perch 05/22/08 made it to work today for the first time since last week...YAY! had to come home early cuz ran out of energy but at least i made it for a while. wasn't sure i'd gotten a daily as i left work, tho i'd shot a couple things i hoped would turn out on my way to the bus in the morning. when coming home i almost always pull my camera out before i get off the bus just in case. i was glad i had today as this sparrow was perched so obligingly for a dp immediately across the street from the bus stop
dedmanshootn > dogwood blossom blitz 05/21/08 rained all day...YAY...since i wasn't so 'down and out' (finally shaking this dratted cold) i made it down and out in time to catch the last good light this evening and shoot my neighbors beautiful dogwood. its such a beautiful and prolific bloomer this year i definitely have plans to shoot some more
dedmanshootn > beauty on a burnt stump 05/19/08 this is by the sidewalk at the top of the stairs from yesterdays shot. i decided i'd up and down the stairs for a bit of exercise and to get a daily pic even tho i'm still struggling with a bad cold. had my eye on this stump for a while. got down a bit late so had to compensate some with the flash
dedmanshootn > by my neighbors porch 05/17/08 didn't make it to DOD's alas. came down with very nasty cold and fever instead. NOT the recommended choice. was just so sick friday and saturday i couldn't get up the umph to really participate in the dailies tho i plan to catch up asap. i love the abandon in these flowers...just feels so live and joyous. thank you all for your kind comments on the pic of DOD. he's a fine man and i'm proud to be his son
dedmanshootn > stairs to my basement entry 05/18/08 my building is on a fairly steep sidehill so there's a full floor difference between the street side and the side i live on. these stairs lead from the street down to the basement entry i often use when i go for a picture walk. just had to take the garbage out even tho i still feel like the dog's breakfast so took advantage of the opportunity to shoot a pic for my daily while i was down and out
dedmanshootn > DOD (dear old dad) 05/16/08 i've always shot the day for the daily but i just got my stuff from mother's day processed and liked this one of my dad, especially his hands, so decided to use it today. i'll be down helping get his house ready for sale again this week-end so may not be able to post and almost for sure won't be able to comment. i look forward to catching up on all the wonderful stuff i missed when i get back
