dedmanshootn > handsome but not too helpful 10/11/09 if you look closely you'll note theat this 'cop' is a mannequin. this was parked along the main highway in westport, wa. the funniest thing about it is that when sis and i first saw it there was low light and we really needed some help with problem, lock with no key and no familiarity with the area for a locksmith, so pulled up to ask for help. didn't realize it was a mannequin, tho it did seem a bit like 'he' was asleep or something, until i rolled down the window. we had a great laugh and i just had to come back later to get a shot for the dailies. when i originally posted i wouldn't be on for a while it was because sis and i were taking a weeks vacay on the wwashington coast (we re-did the same 'tour' as the last trip with my late DOD http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Mostly-nature/daves-faves/4931081_5dSa9#261210721_Z8Gpt) and where we'd be had no access, or even cell coverage most of the time. those of you who commented about puter probs must have been psychic because when i got home my internet wasn't working. turned out to be a simple fix in the access line but not that quick or easy to run down. should have everything back to whatever normal is around here now so also trying to get back to full participation in the dailies. my cam is going in for hopefully just a cleaning and check-up now so you'll be getting pics from our trip as i get them processed. really looking forward to see what's been going on in the dailies and with my smug friends. hope each of you is doing better than well and are happy, healthy and wise (or at least the best two of three) trying a different format for the dailies. for previous daily pictures click this link: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > the new veterans flagpole on a blustery day 04/18/08 the old flagpole honoring our local veterans who laid down their lives in our service blew down in a bad storm in 2005. the community held fund-raisers and pestered the politicians until enough money was gotten to raise this new beauty. my old head can't remember right now for certain but i believe its 60 feet (don't ask me to do the metric conversion right now either...lol) tall which gives you an idea of the size of the flag. i pass by it at least 5 or 6 times a week and still get that "AH!" catch in my throat when i see it and pause to remember the sacrifices of those who serve us, past and present. this shot doesn't do it justice but i haven't been able to shoot one yet that does.
