dedmanshootn > hydrangea, morning glory and (yuck) fly
07/30/08

couldn't remember where i carefully stashed my sensor cleaners so still crudded up alas. this is a different part of the same bush as the past shots. the morning glories are stangling everything this year.

in re the light and composition comments/questions of yesterday: the light was bright but indirect sunlight and then a bit of backlight from a window reflection and everything was natural just as i found it. i upped the contrast and sharpness a nudge when i developed it but it was otherwise out of the camera. the light was more direct tho more diffused today for this one. dropped the contrast a bit so the white was toned down but otherwise as came out of the camera (dust and all sigh). my gas tank is completely dry so i'm off to bed and lookinhg forward to going to work in the morning. have a great day
dedmanshootn > hydrangea, no lady bug
07/29/08

same bush as the other day but no bugs and some trash from the overhead evergreen. what can i say i really like hydrangeas. hope you and yours are doing better than well, off to snooze the night away
dedmanshootn > hollyhocks and sensor dust
07/28/08

this is as close as i've gotten to a hollyhock pic i like this year, and i don't like it too much - even less because i need to clean my sensor apparently. posting it cuz its all i have. had to use the flash cuz it was such an overcast lowlight morning, tho of course as soon as i went in to nap the sun came out and we had a lovely sunset
dedmanshootn > strange birthday candles? (look at the center as large as you can)
07/27/08

i knew the name of this when i started but my poor ole head lost it tween there and here - hence the title tho i do think the center is very very cool and does look a bit like birthday candles. (is this chicory? if anyone knows) was doing much needed household chores and taking it very easy today. slept a lot and snapped this down in the parking lot of my bulding when i took the trash to the dumpster. have kept meaning to put this link and finally remembered - the results of the 'exposure' contest

dedmanshootn > light-pink sweetpeas
07/26/09

these were right by my building and i couldn't resist a shot on my way to work. good thing cuz i was thrashed after just a lunch shift (actually slept the last forty minutes or so) and just came home and crashed and burned. i liked the delicate color and, of course, it IS a weed
dedmanshootn > thistle flowers
07/25/08

i love thistle flowers but find them hard to get because they're so fleeting. the day these were prime my enregy and the light were no good and by the time i got back they're already past it. i still like them tho. posting early and straight to bed so can finally go to work tomorrow, sure hope i can make a whole shift as they need me pretty badly
dedmanshootn > hydrangea with ladybug
07/24/08

got down to do laundry today so snuck over and nabbed a snap of the neighbor's hydrangea while it was cycling. hydrangea flowers look so odd but i've always loved them. very bummed out; was going to be down visitng sis and b-i-l and also had permission to shoot the 'tour de peaks" bicycling event but just too weak from this ##$%^#% CRUD!! such is life but there's a very good chance i'd've had some paying photos plus the fun of going with family. i'm not working yet again today but friday i'm going in if a have to drag myself down the street with my lips! can tell i'm finally getting better because actually have the enrgy to be frustrated. thanks yet again for all the kind thoughts words and prayers, forgot to mention the other day DOD says same. he's hanging in and still in good spirits. it helps that he gets plenty of calls and visitors. hope this finds you and those you love doing as well as can possibly be. i'm putting the tour de peaks link in case anyone is interested.

dedmanshootn > the purple people eater
07/23/08

loved that song as a kid, along with 'itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini' and oooh-eee-ah-ah-ah witchdoctor song. long time ago that was now. this is another of the new buses, been in service about two weeks. didn't have the day i wanted to today so didn't even make it out the door alas. shot this while i was out to the library yesterday so "cheating" and using it today. i'm off to bedd to crash abd burn so posting this early. have loved catching some ofthe great things y'all have been shooting. making me wish i were able to be out but too tired to even feel much frustration darn it. Lord willing i'll be back on my pins and stumping along right sharply. have a great day
dedmanshootn > retitle: geranium (ty whomever, i couldn't come up with geranium)
07/22/08

made another short excursion out today. went to the library before i got some serious fines for late and grabbed a wonderful hot dog ay my fab cart by the bus stop. wiped me out again but not as fast so YAY! snapped this by the bus stop while i waited. hope y'all are having a great day. i'm off to snooze some more, forty-eight stairs each way at least four times to as much laundry as i can carry in the morning
dedmanshootn > blooming white rose
07/21/08

made it out of my apartment today for the first time in a week other than going to the doc...YAY! just went to the grocery for some much needed supplies and took a few snaps along the way. was only out about an hour and a half but even that really took it out of me, by the time i got my groceries and gear (only aboout 25-30 lbs total) up the stairs home i was puffing like a steam engine and shaky on my pins. still not ready and able, vice versa really, for work. am improving quite a bit tho. thanks again for all the well wishes and good thoughts/prayers. this isn't a weed but i figured what the heck ;-)
dedmanshootn > blue fan shadow
07/20/08

was trying various settings and exposures to see if i could capture the fan blades in motion but either got them frozem or invisiblu blurred. this is a give up i;m going to post something even if its junk shot. shone my led flashlight through the fan abd shot the shadow on the fridge. i think i'm finally turning the corner on this crud. may actuallu leave the apt today and try to get something i actually want to look at. am gpoing to go through y'alls til i have to lay down again. hope this finds you doing much better than i
dedmanshootn > window air conditioner detail
07/18/08

took this last night but just ran out of energy beffore i could process and post it. also realized that what i was going for would've been much better acco, plished by a low/looking up perspective rather than this one. was trying to cut in a bit sharper into the words in the upper corner. no a special shot regardless but was working settings. this was shot in sunset light with cam set for tungsten. didn't like the oaver yellow ones from natural setting. this is a reasonable facsimile of the true color so learned something at least
dedmanshootn > heat radiator valve (2of2)
07/19/08

as mentioned this is the flash version which came out much better. will probably try natural light again if get good light just to see what i can get now that i know what to do. this puter and screen are absolute dreams, can hardly believe how fast and easy things work now
dedmanshootn > heat radiator valve (1of2)
07/19/08

i'm posting two because this is what i was trying to get (sorta, by the time i'd figured out how to get the shot i'd lost the best light) but i like the set-up shot better. this was very low light, beautiful red sunset glow, @ 22 or 27 (can't remember which) but i couldn't get camera to focus right. finally figured out to set it up with a flash and autofocus then leave everything the same except very carefully flip it off autofocus. this type shot is a huge power pig so i wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have plug-in power. i slept most of the day and just rested on the couch when i wasn't sleeping. i think the anitbiotics (i really hate to have to use them but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do) are doing their thing. had a brief burst of energy to try this and get it uploaded but am bonking now alas. shall have to keep waiting to start looking through what y'all have been doing. i think i must be going through withdrawal pangs in addition to everything else :-)
dedmanshootn > fridge magnets
07/17/08

these are what's left of my fridge magnets. i knocked off my fav for the umpteenth time the other day and it finally bbar, it was one my late mum gave me - as is the kitchen one which is far less messy than the reality in my kitchen right now - and was a wedge of double-crust pie made form modeling compound that then had b&w legs, head and a pink udder sticking out at odd angles...a cow pie! have loved puns of any and all type since a wee sprout, probably a result of all the fevers :-). sorry for the missed days of participation. had another round, the good news being that its not pneumonia and i expect the antibiotics to work quickly. Lord willing i'll be back to normal (whatever THAT is) in a couple days and shall be fully participating in the dailies again starting tomorrow. please don't worry as there's plenty of others covering that base already! tho not me ;-) i still feel that life is glorious! thanks for sharing my joy and blessing the giver re my new tech. this screen is a deream and i plan to learn how to calibrate it to smugmug when i'm feeling better. was such a pleasure not to have to try two or three times with a probable reboot to upload this. as far as my little workspace goes i'm grateful to have it as well as the eqpt. the arm of my puter chair is six inches from the couch which is a foot from the bed which goes to my 'outside' (building hallway, as my card table is immediately adjacent the outside wall and just fits exactly beytween my two windows) wall. i'm very grateful to have the space at all and still don't manage to keep it as clean as i ought, small as it is. pristine housekeeping is well below dailies and most anything else i can think of. thanks again for all you pleasure in my pleasure...if i wasn't already choked up from the crud i'd be all choked up about now after reading all the wonderful comments. blessings on all y'all and i look forward to catching up on my smorg of dailies asap. oops forgot, as i know enquiring minds will want to know, the pic isn't by me but was given me by a fine friend and is a natural rock formation near where he lived at the time
