dedmanshootn > light,color and wavelets 11/20/09 i was heartened by the comments about the lighting on yestrrday's shroom. i've been working hard trying to teach myself to use flash more effectively and i guess i succeeded on that one. as noted by many we certainly do get a lot of rain here and the ground is often mushy. makes for very interesting mosses, fungi and lichen tho which those of you who're familiar with my pics know i like to shoot. i'm working on pics to do a shroom gallery. have much else on my plate right now so its kinda taken a back burner. hopefully by putting the word out like this i'll get on the job and finish it this week-end. we had lots of rain and more wind, though the wind wasn't nearly as strong as the past few blows. my power only popped off once and that only for a second or two. its died back now so i'm taking advantage of my insomnia, ande nap earlier in the evening, to get a pic up and finally get to go though some of the great dailies and other smug stuff i know i've been missing. smile several times for no reason at all today. people will usually smile back and, if nothing else it'll make them wonder what you're up to ;-) to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > pretty nice shroom 11/19/09 well i didn't get to catch up on any pics alas as we had another evening of fair to middlin winds l;ast night, gusts nearing sixty mph, which caused some power blips so i didn't want to risk my puter. i've really been enjoying the weather tho and sat looking out my window for over an hour again. only saw two transformers blow this time. this wind was lighter than the other day and also i suspect most of the loos branches and things have come down by now. we're expecting a weeks worth of rain and several days more wind they say. there's rumors we might see the sun for black friday. i'm glad many of you enjoyed the tpickup truck puddle as much as i did. there's almost always something interesting to see after a good storm. have a great week-end to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > we had a bit of rain 11/17/09 we had a wicked wind storm last night and quite a bit of wind for the past several days. when it finally rained it poured. this probably dropped in about two to three hours. sorry i've been awol. nothing too serious just the usual suspects acting up a bit more than usual alas. that and a couple times when i had energy i didn't want to turn on the puter because the wind was blipping the power. mine only actually went off briefly a couple times but quite a few people were out for several hours. i was up in the middle of the night the other day while it was gusting pretty good and i saw a good dozen transformers blow in about an hour and a half before i went back to sleep. aprtment dwelling insomniacs fireworks, sorta, sideways ;-) . hope y'all are doiing grand. shall hopefully be able to check out a bit of what i've been missing but at least wanted to let y'all know i'm still alive and kickin. thanks so much for all the kind comments on the snapdragons and also for the e-mails. blessings on all of good will to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > lichen pretty pink autumn snappers 11/14/09 actually shot this about ten days ago but didn't make it out today so rather than stick y'all with another junk shot from my apartment i'm sticking you with this. by the way, sorry for the typos on yesterday's. i know what i want to do but my brain and body don;'t always work in concert correctly and yesterday was one of those days. enjoyed the 'fun guy' comments as that line always goes through my head whenever i see a shroom. i'm really more of an actually fungi than a fun guy however. i pretty much sit in one spot, am usually in the dark and i get fed a lot of the excreted concetrated digestive leftovers of the commenly domseticated male bovine animal. hope you find some peace and joy today to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > fun flock of funky fungi 11/13/09 this would;ve been much better if i could've gotten it from lower down and not had to use a falsh. concitions were not such tho so... i quite like seeing the many types of fungi there are, as long as its not in my apartment ;-) . have a great week-end all
dedmanshootn > bad hairball 11/12/09 don't know what this plant is. only remember it showing up less than ten years ago but its a very agressive blanket vine somewhat like ivy. fascinating flowers, if that's waht these are, tho. its become a fair nusciance in parks and gardens around here but it was handy and kinda cool lookin on this downtown fence near my local photo shop - quicksilver. this is from last month as i didn't make it out today. found a chip i hadn't processed yet so at least its 'new' sorta http://quicksilverphotolab.com/ to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > salute 'the chief' master sargeant e8, charles anway, us army ret. 11/11/09 probably only known as 'chief' by me - we both played baseball, coached middle school softball together, and still love to watch baseball games and baseball movies, we both grew up loving movies and also managed a video store together so our conversations are often salted with movie references - as its something of an inside joke but also respect. he served three and a half years in viet nam including acting as a forward radio control for a heavily hit helicopter company in the aborted invasion of laos, see the book 'into laos' if interested in history, and served well in many other units and places also over his two decade career. i'm grateful to him and all those who serve with honor. he's a good man to have on your side and my first choice for a daily for this veteran's day. dedmanshootn > tiniest mums i ever saw 11/06/09 this isn't a very good shot becaquse the light was low and i shot one-handed so my thumb could show scale but i thought these were too cool to pass up. also very cool that they were bloominh in nov! found some more foods i can't eat due to changed recipes affecdting my allergies. they're putting corn in just about everything these days alas. am going to have to read every single label thouroughly on every single thing i buy i guess, even things i've been buying for years. can't imagine why in the world they'd use high fructose corns syrup in canned soup all of a sudden but there ya go. spent most of last night and this morning in fair distress because of it but am coming out the other side now so thought i'd get this up. shot it the other day but not going out today so using it anyway. have a great week-end. i'll be looking through pics as i'm able. for you little boss fans there's some new shots by her in her "current" gallery (in my 'featured galleries' this week-end) to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/
dedmanshootn > late autumn leaf 11/05/09 "my day started well, then i got up" saw a bit of the remake of 'freaky friday' on disney channel last night before i fell asleep and this line caught my ear. kinda fits my week, sorta sideways. thought i was starting well til i threw up :-( sorry i've missed the past few days but had the nasty flu that's going around. doing a lot better but still feel more or less like i fell down a flight of stairs. made it down the stairs and did some laundry but rather than stick you with another laundry room pic i snapped one of the last trees with leaves left around my building while the sun was out. hope you're having a much better week than i've been. shall be looking and commenting as i have energy. really looking forward to that. smile at someone for no particular reason today to see previous dailies click here: http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/Other/the-daily-picture/

many of oyu have asked about the little boss lately so here she is, four whole pics worth from lunchtime today. not her halloween costume, i'm hoping tor a 'guest' daily of that, but we had some fun. she sure is growing up fast. nine going on about twenty i sometimes think. no matter how old or mature she gets she'll always be 'the little boss' to me. she shot quite a few today too including one i think is my fav hse's shot so far. hope its been a safe and happy halloween
