this isn't the same bird as the "pelican targeting" shot (click previous pic above to see), because it was about then that my cam started acting up, but the sequence is the same: target, dive, grab, gulp - or cuss if missed ;-) - and fly. i found these on another chip and decided to post as a series after the several comments about the targeting shot that had never seen such. these aren't very good shots but did at least capture the feel i think. unfortunately, due to cam probs, the shot with his beak distended with water as he came to the surface, which should be between three and four, didn't get taken so you'll have to imagine it
